Our research group participated in NASA STELLAR program organized the NASA Oklahoma space consortium. Dr. Çapraz gave half-day long lectures including hands-on experiments about batteries to 14 teachers from K-12 schools across the state of Oklahoma. We also appreciate the kinds words from the attendees. It was very fun to work with teachers and educate them about basics of batteries.
The STELLAR program requires these participants to conduct a hands-on STEM workshop with at least ten to fifteen K-12 students around their schools. Therefore, our efforts on educating future of the nation about energy technologies will be exponentially expanded to many students in Oklahoma.
Our research group participated in the Grandparent University activity this year. Grandparents and grandkids had chance to built their own lemon batteries, hand-batteries and aluminum-air batteries using household items. This year, we also included a new hands-on activity called as "Jenga Batteries". Kids and grandparents loved it! I am looking forward next year to participate in this event again!
With Dr. Mileva Radonjvic, we organized a special seminar to inform the graduate students in the School of Chemical Engineering about the available support and service at Oklahoma State University. Many thanks to seminar speakers ! The session was very information about on-going COVID-19 situation, mental health, immigration policies and career support.
Our research group participated in the Grandparent University activity this year. The total of attendances in our major was 87! Our session was recorded and available on the following link below. In our session, we discussed the law of conservation of energy, type of energies and energy storage systems. Grandparents and grandkids had chance to built their own lemon batteries, hand-batteries and aluminum-air batteries using household items. Many thanks to our participated assistants Cameron Ketelsleger and Tanner Hagerman (undergraduate researchers). I am looking forward next year to participate in this event again!

Three panelists from different professional path shared their academic / industrial journey with the graduate students in the School of Chemical Engineering. Many thanks to Dr. John Burnett, Dr. Zelin Xu and Sonika Rajput for their participation. We will organize another career webinar focusing on how to prepare for post-doc and industrial job applications.
Our research group participated in the the Woman in Science Conference. The graduate student in our group, Hannah Dykes demonstrated lemon batteries, hand-batteries and aluminum-air batteries using household items . I am looking forward next year to participate in this event again!
Our research group participated in the Grandparent University activity this year. We discussed the law of conservation of energy, type of energies and energy storage systems. Grandparents and grandkids had chance to built their own lemon batteries, hand-batteries and aluminum-air batteries using household items. Many thanks to our curious students and amazing research assistants. Our participated assistants were Bertan Ozdogru (Ph.D. student), Darrell Gregory (Master Student), Victor Franco (undergraduate student) and Isaac Overmyer (Undergraduate researcher from the University of Minnesota). I am looking forward next year to participate in this event again!
High school students visited our laboratory. Our graduate student, Bertan Ozdogru discuss battery manufacturing processes and battery operations.
Elemantery school students built their own potato batteries, discussed general concept of electrochemical energy storage and learned the basics of electrochemistry.
